The second concept for cardboard is based on the future of living with virtual reality, as Google’s virtual reality project is known as cardboard. Virtual Reality promises an escape from the our day to day lives so I decided I would create an image of me wearing google’s cardboard doing everyday tasks within a home setting. I decided to use the images of Richard Billingham which are snapshots of his parent’s lives.
I decided to apply a 70’s feel to create the sense of nostalgia to the image. I only created a single image for the cardboard project however concept is strong enough to support a series of self-portraits that record me doing everyday activities while living in the virtuality world. During the review of the cardboard project it was mentioned that the idea has parallels to the virtual world explored in the matrix trilogy.
