Project Research: Art Influences John Constable

The research project will take cues from the Grand Tour that was viewed as a rite of passage in the 17th century and therefore in undertaking research for this project is appropriate to look art artists the used Essex as the backdrop for their paintings. The first artist to explore is Constable famous for his paintings in the Vale of Dedham on the Essex Suffolk border. Flatford Mill scene of painting like the Scene on a Navigable River is on the River Stour whose esturary will be at the end of our coastal journey.

In research John Constable I discovered that he did a number of observational studies of landscapes and clouds, determined to become more scientific in the recording of atmospheric conditions. Therefore taking a cue from John Constable I will explore clouds formations and their influence on the images that I capture as part of the project.
